A 100-level student of Moses Orshio Adasu University, Makurdi (MOAUM), formerly Benue State University (BSU), Miss Akaa Elizabeth, has emerged winner of a brand-new car worth N35 million in a raffle draw organized by MTN Nigeria.

The three-day event, which began on Wednesday and concluded on Friday night at the university campus in Makurdi, was part of MTN’s nationwide campus engagement and youth empowerment campaign.

The initiative was designed to reward and entertain students across tertiary institutions while encouraging entrepreneurship and innovation among young Nigerians.

Speaking with journalists, the Youth Segment Manager, MTN Nigeria, Mr. Femi Adesina, said the campaign, known as MTN Pulse Campus Activation, is targeted at youths aged 18 to 25 and provides them with empowerment opportunities through product exhibitions, entertainment, and rewards.

“We visit campuses across Nigeria to empower and entertain students. Each activation runs for three days, during which students showcase their businesses — from snacks and perfumes to clothing and other ventures — as part of supporting their entrepreneurial growth,” Adesina explained.

He added that the event also featured a variety of entertainment activities, including music performances, celebrity appearances, and interactive games, to create an exciting and engaging experience for students.

According to Adesina, the highlight of the campaign was a digital raffle draw that produced several winners of prizes such as laptops, tablets, smartphones, and the grand prize — a brand-new car worth N35 million.

He further disclosed that the MTN Pulse Campus Activation has already been held at the University of Abuja (UniAbuja), the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), and the University of Benin (UNIBEN), with plans to extend the campaign to the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (FUNAAB); Bayero University, Kano (BUK); and the University of Lagos (UNILAG).

Adesina explained that eligibility for the raffle draw required participants to be MTN Pulse subscribers, open and actively use a MoMo (Mobile Money) account by completing at least ten transactions during the three-day event, and engage with the MTN app.

“The more transactions a student performs, the higher their chances of being selected in the digital raffle,” he noted.

Some students who participated shared their experiences.

A participant, Tsavnade Reuben, expressed delight at the event and urged MTN to return for future editions, though he regretted that a phone malfunction limited his participation in the raffle draw.

Another student, Nathaniel Iorliam, who won a branded T-shirt and badge through the MoMo engagement, said: “When we came on the first day, we were told to open a MoMo account. I did and funded it with N5,000. Later, I was informed I qualified for a gift. It’s been a three-day event, and today marks the grand finale.”

The campus activation also featured several side attractions, including table tennis, giant chess, ludo, 360° photo booths, a noiseless party, and gaming stations.
