The former Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Mike Omeri Agbo, has applauded the people of Nasarawa South Senatorial Zone for their resilience, particularly the traditional institution, in preserving the rich culture of the Alago. He described the culture as a beacon of unity and a legacy that strengthens national cohesion.

In an exclusive interview with journalists in Abuja on Tuesday, Dr. Omeri emphasized that traditional institutions remain vital to peace, stability, and development, stressing that they should be recognized as strategic partners in nation-building.

The People’s Democratic Party (PDP) 2027 senatorial aspirant further acknowledged the contributions of monarchs, elder statesmen, community leaders, and opinion leaders in sustaining the cultural heritage of the people. He commended the southern zone for upholding truth by standing firmly with the opposition PDP and recognizing the need for positive change ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, the PDP’s agenda, if given the mandate in 2027, would prioritize tackling insecurity, addressing poverty and hunger, and correcting the inadequacies of the present administration. He assured that the party would place the state’s economy on a path of growth and sustainable development.

Dr. Omeri pointed out that despite the abundance of untapped mineral resources in Nasarawa South, the region has remained neglected. He pledged to transform the area through strategic appointments and infrastructural development.

He expressed gratitude to the people for their patience in the face of economic hardship and natural disasters, particularly in Keana Local Government, where families were displaced, and farmlands destroyed, without adequate interventions from both state and federal governments.

Offering patriotic advice to the youth, whom he described as the energy and strength of society, Dr. Omeri urged them to be proactive, vigilant, and diligent by participating in the ongoing voter registration exercise. He stressed that every right comes with responsibility, and active civic participation is key.

Encouraging citizens to remain focused and committed to the progress of the zone and the state at large, he assured that he is determined to redefine the political direction of Nasarawa South.

He further called on his constituents to mobilize prospective voters for the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) voter registration exercise. Dr. Omeri also appealed to party stakeholders and supporters to intensify grassroots sensitization and mobilization, as well as educate citizens on INEC’s Continuous Voter Registration (CVR) process.
