Youths and women from the Southern Senatorial Zone of Nasarawa State, under the umbrella of the Nasarawa South Progressive Network, have vowed to resist any form of manipulation in the forthcoming All Progressives Congress (APC) governorship congress in the state.

This development came as the group formally endorsed Dr. Muhammed Maikaya as their preferred governorship aspirant for the 2027 election in Nasarawa State.

The Coordinator of the group, Comrade Abduraman Ibrahim, announced the endorsement during a forum tagged “Clarion Call, Fresh Vision, Real Impact,” organized by the group in Lafia.

According to Ibrahim, the endorsement was inspired by Maikaya’s selfless service and immense contributions to humanity — ranging from human capital development to infrastructural advancement — which distinguish him among other aspirants.

He emphasized that Nasarawa State deserves capable leadership after the administration of Governor Abdullahi Sule and called on citizens to persuade Maikaya to join the governorship race.

Highlighting Maikaya’s achievements, Ibrahim noted that the Maikaya Foundation has enrolled over 750 vulnerable individuals in the state health insurance scheme to enable access to quality healthcare.

He added that no fewer than 525 students in tertiary institutions benefited from the Maikaya Development Foundation’s annual education support funds in 2025.

Furthermore, the Foundation has contributed significantly to rural electrification through the provision of transformers to underserved communities across the state.

Ibrahim maintained that the Maikaya Foundation has restored hope to the grassroots by empowering youths and women, drilling boreholes, and supplying instructional materials to schools across Nasarawa State.

He described Maikaya as a dependable leader who continues to build bridges of peace, unity, and harmony across the state.

The coordinator also urged residents to register for their voter’s cards to enable them to exercise their civic rights in the 2027 general elections.

Lending her voice, Blessing Isah appealed to Dr. Maikaya to heed the call to contest the governorship seat and encouraged women and young girls to rally behind him.

In her words: “Maikaya is the answer. He speaks from the heart and acts with conviction. He is a politician who listens before he leads, ensuring that every voice — from farmers in the fields to traders in the markets — counts.”
