Ahead of 2027: We’re Prepared to Reclaim Our Stolen 2023 Mandate — Nasarawa Citizens, Residents Be Ready for Electoral Battle — PDP Warns Other Political Parties
By David Odama
As preparations build toward the 2027 general elections, residents of Nasarawa State have vowed that it will no longer be business as usual for any individuals or groups—regardless of political, religious, or ethnic affiliation—who seek to manipulate the electoral process in the state.
They reaffirmed their commitment to reclaim what they described as the “stolen 2023 mandate” that was freely given to the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) during the last elections.
Traditional rulers, during the PDP’s thank-you tour across three local government areas—Akwanga, Kokona, and Keffi—commended the party for returning to appreciate the people even while in opposition.
Speaking during the visit, citizens, residents, stakeholders, and party supporters voiced a united stance against future electoral manipulation.
“We are determined to ensure that our votes count in the 2027 general elections in Nasarawa State,” one speaker said.
According to them, those who believe Nasarawa is their political stronghold should rethink their assumptions, adding that PDP stands firm while other parties are filled with corrupt politicians and “portfolio politicians” lacking direction.
In Keffi, Chairman of the PDP Elders Forum, Suleiman Nasidi, urged members to remain calm despite recent defections, assuring them that a political “tsunami” is on the horizon.
“I want to advise PDP members not to panic. The political tsunami coming to Nasarawa will see those who defected return to the party,” Nasidi declared.
Former APC Chairman in Keffi LGA, Hon. Mohammed Maigoro, who led thousands of defectors during the thank-you tour, admitted that they had been misled by the propaganda of the ADC. He stated they had now seen the truth and returned to a party that truly represents the people’s interests.
“We have realized our mistakes and are here today, body and soul, to work for the PDP and restore the state’s rightful position,” Maigoro said.
He added that the APC not only betrayed their trust but also failed to meet the people’s needs. “The PDP offers a better alternative, and that is why we are here today.”
Receiving the defectors at the PDP Secretariat in Keffi, State Chairman Hon. Adamu Bako Ninga described the mass defection from APC as a defining moment ahead of the 2027 elections.
“This exodus of APC members and others to the PDP shows the people’s resolve to leave behind a ruling party that has failed them,” Ninga said.
He emphasized that Nasarawa citizens are awakening to the reality that only the PDP can bring back good governance, transparency, and development.
Ninga assured the new members of full integration and equal opportunities, stating that the party’s umbrella is large enough to accommodate all who seek genuine democratic leadership.
Other PDP stakeholders and community leaders hailed the development as a political game-changer, saying the PDP is gaining unstoppable momentum ahead of the next polls.
In his closing remarks, Hon. Mohammed Maigoro reiterated his disillusionment with the APC, citing broken promises and lack of internal democracy as the reasons behind his defection.
The event ended with an enthusiastic procession as defectors, dressed in PDP regalia, marched through the streets of Keffi chanting, “PDP! Power to the People!” and pledged their commitment to returning the party to power in Nasarawa State.
