Twenty-four schoolgirls kidnapped from Government Girls’ Day Secondary School, Maga, in the Sokoto–Kebbi border axis, have regained their freedom following a coordinated security operation.

The students were abducted on November 17 when armed men stormed their school community in Sakaba Local Government Area of Kebbi State.

Confirming their release on Tuesday, an official source revealed that the girls were rescued in the early hours of the day through the combined efforts of security agencies and local volunteers. Specific details of the operation were withheld for security reasons.

According to the source, the rescued students are currently undergoing medical evaluations before being reunited with their families.

Their rescue brings a measure of relief to Kebbi State, which has recently experienced a series of attacks targeting farming settlements and school communities. (AriseNews TV)
