Condolences to the bereaved families of the victims and the Government of Kano State

I wish to extend my heartfelt condolences on behalf of the Northern Senators Forum following the tragic accident that claimed the lives of members of the Kano State delegation returning from the National Sports Festival. This devastating incident has left us all in shock and grief.

We pray for the Almighty Allah to grant the souls of the deceased eternal rest and for their families to find solace during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with the injured who are receiving treatment, and we wish them a speedy recovery.

In this hour of grief, I urge the people of Kano State and Nigeria at large to remain calm. It is imperative that the Federal Road Safety Corps conducts a thorough investigation into the cause of this tragedy to prevent such incidents in the future. The findings of this investigation will be crucial in enhancing road safety measures across the country.

Furthermore, I humbly appeal to the Kano State Government to consider immortalizing the athletes and coaches who lost their lives by naming public spaces, stadiums, or facilities after them. This would serve as a lasting tribute to their memory and dedication to sports. They paid the ultimate price with their lives serving the people of Kano State and a lasting honour should be bequeathed to their sacrifices.

May the souls of the departed rest in peace, and may Allah grant strength and comfort to their families and loved ones.
