Former Director-General of the National Orientation Agency (NOA), Dr. Mike Omeri Agbo Omeri, has cautioned Nigerians against allowing the nation’s culture and tradition to fade into extinction.

Omeri, who is also a senatorial aspirant on the platform of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), gave the charge while joining the people of Owusakyo Kingdom in celebrating His Royal Highness, the Osakyo of Owusakyo, in Means, Nasarawa State.

The former NOA boss, who doubles as the Okina of Owusakyo, expressed concern over the fast-disappearing cultural heritage across the country, particularly in Nasarawa State. He called on custodians of tradition to reawaken and sensitize the people on the importance of preserving their cultural values.

“Our culture and tradition must not be allowed to go into extinction. This is necessary so that generations yet unborn will not be deprived of what our forefathers handed down to us. Preservation of culture and tradition should never become alien in our society,” Omeri stressed.

Felicitating with HRH Osula Inarigu, the Osakyo of Owusakyo, on his 34th anniversary on the throne, Omeri praised his leadership and prayed for continued blessings upon him.

“Your Royal Highness, we are most grateful to Almighty God for sustaining you in peace and good health throughout your 34 years on the throne.

“It is my earnest prayer that these 34 years mark only the beginning of a greater legacy of blessings, progress, and prosperity for the people of Owusakyo Kingdom and Nasarawa State at large. May God grant you long life, excellent health, and the strength to continue your immeasurable service to peace and development. Congratulations once again,” Omeri declared.
