Group Applauds Indigenous Contractor, JRB, Describes Minister’s Remarks as Vindication Says Ogbomosho–Ilorin Road Project Is a Clear Example
By Our Reporter
A North Central-based pressure group, Save Nigeria under Renewed Hope Agenda, has commended the outstanding performance of JRB Construction Company, a rising indigenous road construction firm.
In a statement issued by its protem leader, Abubakar Yusuf, the group hailed the Minister of Works, Engr. Dave Umahi, for passing a vote of confidence on JRB Construction Company for its satisfactory handling of the long-abandoned Ogbomosho–Ilorin section of the road project.
Yusuf noted that JRB’s impressive execution of the project serves as a major encouragement for greater involvement and patronage of indigenous contractors in Nigeria, describing the Minister’s commendation as both timely and vindicative.
He further highlighted the ongoing remedial works by JRB along the Abaji–Gwagwalada–Dikko road as another testimony to the company’s competence and quality delivery. Similarly, the left-lane remedial works on the Giri–Zuba road, also being handled by JRB, are expected to permanently resolve the long-standing dilapidation of that section.
According to Yusuf, the Minister’s confidence in performance-driven indigenous contractors like JRB underscores his commitment to excellence and accountability in Nigeria’s road infrastructure. He therefore appealed to Engr. Umahi to continue supporting high-performing local firms such as JRB for sustained national development under the Renewed Hope Agenda of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
He recalled that the Ogbomosho–Ilorin section of the road had been neglected for years due to poor performance by previous contractors, which resulted in multiple accidents and fatalities. The project, revoked and re-awarded to JRB less than a year ago, has now been successfully completed.
Yusuf particularly praised the modern drainage system constructed by JRB, describing it as a model worthy of emulation by both indigenous and foreign contractors operating in the country.
The group pledged continued support for JRB and other reputable firms delivering quality projects across Nigeria’s highways. Yusuf added that the Works Minister’s vision of achieving a 100-year lifespan for Nigerian roads under the Renewed Hope Agenda is achievable through such dedicated efforts.
He also commended JRB’s management, machinery, and supervision for their professionalism and efficiency, urging them to sustain the momentum and uphold their reputation for excellence.
