“I’ve Tried Love Without Wealth, Now I Want a Rich Partner” – Tiwa Savage Opens Up on Relationship Standards

Nigerian music star Tiwa Savage has revealed that she now prioritises financial stability in her romantic relationships, admitting that her past approach to dating was a mistake.

Speaking in a candid conversation with media personality Zeze Mills, the Koroba hitmaker said she previously dated men who were not as financially comfortable as she was, believing that love alone was enough. However, her perspective has shifted.

“I used to make the mistake of dating down, saying I don’t care if you’re not making money, it’s just love. But now, I think I need someone that has money. I’m at that point now. Love is really nice, but you can judge me if you want for wanting a wealthier person,” she said.

Savage further explained that she wants to experience a different kind of relationship dynamic. “I want to try dating someone wealthier. I’ve done it the other way for many years. Let me see what it’s like being with a wealthy man,” she added.

Saga Gist recalls that Tiwa Savage married her former manager, Tunji Balogun, popularly known as Teebillz, in 2013. The couple divorced in 2018 after unsuccessful attempts to reconcile, and their union produced a son, Jamil.
