The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Prof. Stephen Adegbite, has been honoured with an Award of Excellence by the Coalition of Nigerian Christian Bishops and Clerics in collaboration with the 30 Patriotic Bishops of Nigeria.

The award was presented to the NCPC boss on Thursday, 28th August, 2025, at the Commission’s corporate headquarters in Abuja, by the Vice Chairman of the 30 Bishops, Bishop Dr. Emmanuel Jaiyesola.

This was disclosed in a statement issued by Celestine Toruka, Deputy Director and Head of Media and Public Relations of the Commission, and made available to journalists in Abuja.

In his remarks, Bishop Adegbite expressed gratitude to the clerics for deeming him worthy of the honour. He recalled that he had been serving in God’s vineyard for 37 years, having been ordained at the age of 20.

He commended the Bishops for their unwavering support for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and Vice President Senator Kashim Shettima, noting that it was providential for the nation to have, for the first time in history, three distinguished Senators occupying leadership positions in Aso Rock Presidential Villa.

The NCPC boss further urged the Bishops to continually pray for the First Lady, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, describing her as “the Esther of our time.” He also highlighted the historic fact that she is the first Pastor to serve as Nigeria’s First Lady.

Bishop Adegbite emphasized that President Tinubu is making commendable efforts to address the nation’s economic challenges. According to him, “it is only the blind that will not see the good works Mr. President is doing.”

He outlined some of the administration’s achievements, including youth and women empowerment initiatives, the introduction of CNG buses to ease transportation difficulties, the launch of the country’s first-ever students loan scheme, reforms in the power sector, and renewed bilateral relations with countries such as Brazil and the United Arab Emirates aimed at attracting viable investments and boosting economic growth.

Earlier, Bishop Dr. Emmanuel Jaiyesola explained that the delegation to the NCPC headquarters consisted of the 30 Bishops who had previously attended the unveiling of Vice President Shettima. He said the award presentation was meant to acknowledge Bishop Adegbite’s outstanding contributions to Nigeria and the body of Christ.

He further praised the NCPC boss for the spiritual impact of the Christian prayer he offered during the inauguration of the 16th President of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and commended his leadership strides since assuming office at the Commission.
