NELFUND Reopens Student Loan Portal for 2024/2025 Academic Year — Final 48-Hour Window for Non-Compliant Institutions

The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) has announced the reopening of its student loan verification portal for the 2024/2025 academic session, granting a final 48-hour window for tertiary institutions yet to complete their student verification exercise.
In a statement released to journalists on Friday, NELFUND stated that the approval for this reopening was to enable institutions that missed the earlier deadline to finalize their submissions.
“The Nigerian Education Loan Fund (NELFUND) wishes to notify all stakeholders and the public that, following the recent closure of its student verification portal, the Fund has approved a final reopening for a period of 48 hours to enable tertiary institutions that are yet to complete their student verification exercise to do so,” the statement read.
According to the Fund, the portal will be accessible from 12:00 a.m. on Sunday, October 12, 2025, to 12:00 a.m. on Tuesday, October 14, 2025.
This short extension, NELFUND explained, aims to ensure that all eligible students are properly captured and verified by their respective institutions as part of the ongoing 2024/2025 student loan application process.
The Fund urged institutions to take full advantage of this final opportunity, warning that failure to complete the verification process within the stipulated timeframe would result in exclusion from the current loan cycle. Such a situation, it noted, would ultimately deny students from those institutions access to the benefits of the loan scheme.
“In the interest of transparency and accountability, the list of defaulting institutions will be published alongside this press release,” the Fund added.
NELFUND reaffirmed its commitment to promoting equitable access to higher education through the efficient, transparent, and inclusive management of the Nigerian Education Loan Scheme.
