Nigeria’s Hope Rests in God — NCPC Boss
The Executive Secretary of the Nigerian Christian Pilgrim Commission (NCPC), Bishop Prof. Stephen Adegbite, has reaffirmed that the hope of Nigeria is firmly anchored in God. He made this declaration during the Conference of States meeting, which brought together Chairmen and Executive Secretaries of State Christian Pilgrims Welfare Boards, including the FCT, at the NCPC Corporate Headquarters in Abuja on Tuesday, November 4, 2025.
In his remarks, Bishop Adegbite acknowledged the difficulties currently confronting the nation but emphasized that no adversity can prevail against a country whose unity and faith remain rooted in God.
He strongly condemned individuals and groups attempting to instigate violence between Muslims and Christians, stressing that such divisive efforts would fail in the face of unity and vigilance. “Nigeria will not tolerate or support any form of genocide. We recognize the commitment of our government in the fight against terrorism and have faith that our nation will triumph, as the President is on the right course,” he affirmed.
The Executive Secretary called on all stakeholders to work together harmoniously and to remain steadfast in supporting the government’s drive toward national renewal, peace, and unity.
“We understand the challenges before us, but we must stand as one people. Nigeria will prevail as long as we remain united and prayerful. Our true strength lies in our collective faith,” Bishop Adegbite stated.
He also commended the successful completion of the 2025 Easter Pilgrimage exercise, describing it as a testament to Nigeria’s spiritual resilience and divine favor despite recent developments in Israel. He expressed appreciation to State Governments for their active sponsorship and announced that the Commission would recognize outstanding states — including Imo, Plateau, Adamawa, Bauchi, and Delta — for their strong commitment to the pilgrimage program.
Reaffirming the NCPC’s dedication to fostering partnerships, promoting unity, and upholding Nigeria’s image, Bishop Adegbite concluded: “A tree cannot make a forest. Together, through prayer and purposeful action, we will lift our nation until Nigeria takes her rightful place among the comity of nations.”
Earlier, the Chairman of the Conference of States, Bishop David Moradeyo, offered prayers for the continued success of Bishop Adegbite’s administration and congratulated him on his recent appointment as Chaplain of the State House Chapel, Abuja.
He also commended the Executive Secretary for his visionary leadership and the success of the just-concluded Easter Pilgrimage amid global challenges. Bishop Moradeyo further appealed to the NCPC Boss to visit states facing challenges in sponsoring pilgrims, to encourage governors to support future participation.
