Over 1,000 Youths to Undergo Training on Cybersecurity, Digital Forensics in Nasarawa State
By David Odama
The First Lady of Nigeria, Senator Oluremi Tinubu, has announced that no fewer than 1,000 youths will benefit from a training programme on cybersecurity and digital forensics through the Digital Learning Centres established under the Renewed Hope Initiative in Nasarawa State.
Senator Tinubu made this known during the commissioning and handover ceremony of the Digital Learning Centre in Lafia, alongside similar projects commissioned in other parts of the federation.
According to the First Lady, the initiative — which will run weekly from now until December next year — is designed to equip young Nigerians with modern digital skills, curb cybercrimes, and promote self-reliance through enhanced learning and innovation.
In his remarks, the Director-General of the National Information Technology Development Agency (NITDA), Malam Kashifu Inuwa Abdullahi, noted that digitalization remains central to the transformation agenda of the current administration. He revealed that the agency plans to establish an additional 148 Digital Learning Centres nationwide.
Similarly, the Director-General of the Nasarawa State Information Technology and Digital Economy Agency, Sani Haruna Sani, described the Lafia centre as a hub for digital literacy, cybersecurity, and forensic training.
He encouraged youths in the state to take advantage of the opportunity to acquire relevant digital skills that would enable them to contribute meaningfully to the growth and development of both the state and the nation.
