Over 13,100 Ado Residents Benefit from Lami Health Foundation Medical Outreach

Over 13,100 residents of Ado Local Government Area in Benue State have received free medical treatment for various ailments through the Lami Health Foundation, an initiative of the Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Mrs. Lami Danladi-Ogenyi.

The Deputy Speaker organized a 7-day free medical and surgical outreach to provide relief for members of her constituency who had been living with different health challenges.

Our correspondent reports that the intervention by Hon. Lami Danladi-Ogenyi brought immense relief to the people of Ado LGA through a comprehensive medical and surgical exercise.

The week-long outreach, which began on September 28 and concluded on October 5, 2025, with a mop-up exercise at Apa-Agila, significantly improved the health and well-being of more than 13,000 beneficiaries.

Common ailments treated included malaria, typhoid, ulcers, hypertension, diabetes, HVS, cold, and cough. In addition, supplements, vitamins, oral rehydration salts (ORS), and delivery packs were freely distributed to participants.

Surgical procedures conducted covered hernia repairs—including umbilical and strangulated inguinal hernias—hydrocelectomies, appendectomies, lipoma excisions, lump and abnormal growth removals, and even joined finger separations.

According to official biostatistics from the outreach, a total of 13,117 patients were treated across the designated centres.

At Ukwonyo-Utonkon, 2,217 general outpatient cases and 2,457 eye cases were recorded, while 35 surgeries were successfully performed, bringing the total number of beneficiaries there to 4,709.

At Igumale, 1,919 general cases and 1,968 eye cases were treated, with 58 surgeries conducted. The total number of beneficiaries at the Primary Healthcare Centre, Igumale, stood at 3,945.

At Ijigban, which hosted the Ari outreach, 2,008 general and 2,087 eye cases were handled. A total of 19 surgeries were carried out over two days, bringing the total number of beneficiaries from the Ari outreach to 4,114.

Deferred surgical cases from earlier centres were also handled—11 referred from Ukwonyo-Utonkon were operated on in Igumale, while 10 from Igumale were treated in Ijigban—making a total of 29 referred surgeries.

During the mop-up exercise at Apa-Agila, 321 individuals were examined and treated for various eye conditions.

In total, 140 surgical procedures were performed, and 3,667 medicated eyeglasses were distributed—some beneficiaries receiving two pairs for different visual needs.

The Lami Health Foundation’s medical and surgical outreach stands as an unprecedented initiative in the history of Ado Local Government Area, significantly improving the health and quality of life of thousands of residents and their families.
