Removal: Nasarawa Attorney General to Lead Six-Lawyer Team in Ex-TSC Chairman’s Suit
By David Odama
The Attorney General and Commissioner for Justice in Nasarawa State, Barr. Isaac Danladi, will personally lead a six-member legal team from the Ministry of Justice to defend the state government and the Speaker of the State House of Assembly in a suit filed by the dismissed Chairman of the Teachers Service Commission (TSC), Abubakar Muhammad Gada.
It will be recalled that Gada was recently removed from office by the state government after being indicted by a panel on allegations of bribery and corruption. He was accused of collecting various sums of money from applicants in exchange for influencing their recruitment and securing appointments.
Following the findings, he was first suspended and later dismissed alongside other members of the commission.
However, Gada has since approached the court to challenge his removal from office.
Speaking with journalists in Lafia on Friday, Attorney General Danladi confirmed that he had signed and filed a memorandum of conditional appearance on behalf of the government and pledged to vigorously defend the state’s decision.
“I will lead a team of six lawyers from the Ministry of Justice to challenge the case instituted by the former chairman of the TSC against the government and other parties,” Danladi said.
He further explained that the move was essential to safeguard the integrity of the recruitment process and restore public confidence in the education sector.
The case, which has generated significant public attention, is expected to test the state’s legal authority to suspend or dismiss appointees accused of misconduct.
Observers say the outcome could set an important precedent for governance, accountability, and the fight against corruption in public institutions across Nasarawa State.
Court proceedings are anticipated to begin soon, with the Attorney General leading what many have described as a high-profile legal battle.
