Rivers! A shameful Pilot Scheme
By Dr jarlat Uche opara
What would I possibly say to the good people of Rivers? Congratulations? Sorry? Take heart? Or it serves your guys right?
To our “Dicto- democratic” President, the spots of the Leopard cannot be changed no matter how chameleonic. The antics, strategy and unsavoury political land grabbing are all crystal. We are neither blind nor naive.
To Bro. Nyesom Wike, the battle has been won, kudos! But Rivers once peaceful, politically formidable and predominantly impregnable one party structure is today by the agency of human greed, ego and relevance seeking balcanized and made vulnerable for poaching.
To Bro Fubara, your game is over, your pawns captured and your King, Rook, Bishop, Knight and Queen checkmated. Your political road, once a crescent is now a close. You can either chicken out, like a thoroughly beaten native dog( Binko) Whining with its tail in-between the legs, licking its wounds or be smart and strong in picking the bits and pieces of your political life. You are not a pawn. But you can decide to be one. The choice is yours to make.
There was no peaceful reconciliation, no equity, no justice, no fairness, no charity in the agreement. All I could see was a desperate surrender with all the privileges, powers and authority stripped. Reducing you to a lap dog and mere rubber stamp.
In the words of Stephen Covey “What we are communicates eloquently than what we say”. From the clips of the reconciliation making rounds on social media, the above quote of Stephen Covey resonates. There is no peace and the agreement seems forced, artificial and intimidating.
River State is now a pilot scheme of what Nigeria would soon become. We may all stand at an aloof. We may all think it is a River State’ headache.
The truth is Fubura and River State are mere guinea pigs on the political theatre room. It seems the operation is successful and the strategy deployed perfect. Who is next? Which State is next? To make their ambition and aspiration for 2027 a smooth sail?
The masses should raise and shake off this redundancy and I don’tcare attitude. There is a hurricane Tinubu and Wike Tsunami raging and surging for 2027. Nigerians should arise and unite. The signs are there and the catastrophic effect it would have, very unimaginable.
Rivers should raise and say no to this imperial intimidation. River State isn’t that small to be stuffed into the pocket of one man whose crave for power, very insatiable.
Why wouldn’t Fubara be allowed to seek for a second term? Why would the selection of all the Local Government Chairmen be at the sole discretion of one man whose aspiration is to emasculate the entire State and fold it in-between his tighs.
The Power of the masses is very huge and powerful. How ready are the Masses to excercise and defend this power in good conscience, without staining it with crumps from the master’ table? This ship called Nigeria has a hole under. Water however small is already coming inside the ship. If nothing is done to fix the hole, the ship certainly would sink and all would get drowned.
