Woman Leader, Queen Ayoola Fakunle Advocates Peace as World Marks Peace Day
Queen Amb. Ayoola Ronke Fakunle Olasode, Women Leader of the National Assembly Legislative Aides Forum (Women Wing), has urged Nigerians to support government efforts in tackling insecurity and promoting peace across the nation.
She made the call on Sunday in Abuja in a message to commemorate the 2025 World Peace Day, celebrated annually on September 21.
Speaking on this year’s theme, “Act Now for a Peaceful World,” Olasode described it as a wake-up call to ensure that peace reaches every corner of Nigeria.
Olasode, who also serves as Director of Human Capital/Humanitarian at the Remi Tinubu Support Organisation, noted that Nigeria is richly endowed with human and natural resources capable of making it one of the strongest economies in the world.
“As we join the rest of the world in celebrating this day, it is a constant reminder that, as a nation, we must continue to advocate for peaceful coexistence. This year’s theme, ‘Act Now for a Peaceful World,’ is a clear call to prevent violence or any act that could undermine the peace we enjoy,” she said.
She stressed the need for Nigerians to work with the Federal Government as it implements policies aimed at taking the country from its current challenges to a more prosperous future.
“We must collaborate with the Federal Government and governments at all levels to build a nation where insecurity, unemployment, violence, and injustice are reduced to the barest minimum, if not completely eradicated,” she added.
Olasode further emphasized the importance of practical measures to eliminate gender discrimination and other forms of inequality. She urged individuals to avoid conflict triggers at home, workplaces, communities, and across the country.
“We must also work to bridge the gap between the rich and the poor while contributing our quota toward a stronger and more stable economy. Nigeria is the only country we can truly call home, and we must do everything possible to ensure sustainable growth and development.
“Nigeria is the giant of Africa, and we must live up to this name because many nations, particularly across the continent, look up to us,” she stated.
The women leader concluded by calling for collective action to restore Nigeria’s greatness.
