2027: Benue Deputy Speaker, Lami Rallies Constituents for PVC Registration, Describes It as Weapon for Re-election
From Dooshima Terkura, Makurdi
Deputy Speaker of the Benue State House of Assembly, Chief Mrs. Lami Danladi-Ogenyi, has commenced the mobilization of her constituents to actively participate in the ongoing Continuous Voter Registration (CVR).
Speaking with newsmen in her office in Makurdi, the Deputy Speaker, who represents Ado State Constituency, said she has set up committees across the 10 council wards in her Local Government Area to ensure a smooth registration process.
It would be recalled that the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) began voter card registration on August 18, 2025.
Danladi-Ogenyi disclosed that the committees are working tirelessly to ensure all eligible voters who are yet to register take advantage of the exercise.
According to her: “I’m a mobilizer, and I’m gathering my people already. What I did was to constitute committees across the 10 council wards of Ado LGA, and I directed them to mobilize our people to go to INEC offices to register and obtain their PVCs. The PVC is their weapon, and that is what they will use to vote for President Bola Tinubu and our Governor, Rev. Fr. Hyacinth Alia, for a second tenure come 2027.”
She further revealed that arrangements have been made to procure motorcycles for campaign coordinators to facilitate movement during the mobilization exercise. “We gave them motorcycles in 2023, but they are no longer in good condition, so there is a need for replacement,” she added.
On the recent change of leadership in the Assembly, the Deputy Speaker expressed confidence in the new Speaker, Alfred Emberga, describing him as transparent, principled, and gender-friendly.
She said she has enjoyed a cordial working relationship with him since he assumed office, adding that he consults widely and carries members along in decision-making.
“I’m enjoying his leadership. He has started well and is gender-friendly. Since he became Speaker of the 10th Assembly, we have worked harmoniously, and all members are happy because of his transparency. I urge my colleagues to give him maximum support so he can lead us to greater heights. I also pray for unity among members,” she stated.
Danladi-Ogenyi assured the people of Benue that under Speaker Emberga’s leadership, the Assembly would enact laws that will benefit all communities and the state at large.
