The Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Dr. Danladi Jatau, has received the endorsement of his constituents to contest for the House of Representatives in the forthcoming 2027 general elections.

The endorsement came on Saturday when the Eggon people from all the electoral wards in Kokona West Constituency converged at Ukeh Village in Bassa District to interface with the Speaker and formally inform him of their decision.

Ukeh Village, which hosted the event, became the focal point for critical deliberations and resolutions, where the elders gave their blessings and offered prayers for the Speaker at the community’s traditional meeting ground.

Dr. Jatau, who honoured the invitation of his people, was warmly received by a large crowd of supporters from various villages and assured of full backing from the All Progressives Congress (APC) ahead of the 2027 polls.

The gathering in Ukeh comprised Eggon elders under the umbrella of the ECDA and the youth wing. The Village Head of Ukeh, Alhaji Ibrahim Usman, while declaring the meeting open, told the Speaker that the purpose of the invitation was to ask him to vie for the House of Representatives seat come 2027.

It was on the same ground that the people had previously urged Dr. Jatau to contest for the State Assembly seat, a decision that culminated in his election to the legislature.

Leaders of the elders’ forum, Jonathan Anzega, and youth leader, Maikasuwa Audu, commended the Speaker for his outstanding leadership and developmental strides, urging him to sustain his efforts. They also pledged to mobilize massive support to ensure his victory in the Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal Constituency race in 2027.

The people unanimously endorsed Dr. Jatau as their preferred candidate for the House of Representatives position.

In his address, the Speaker expressed deep appreciation for the confidence reposed in him, assuring his constituents that he would respond positively to their call at the appropriate time.

“I urge you to begin consultations, mobilization, and outreach to our brothers and sisters in the other two local government areas because winning the House of Representatives seat for KKK requires collective effort,” he stated.

Dr. Jatau also lauded Governor Abdullahi Sule for his developmental initiatives across the state and appealed to the people to continue supporting his administration. He revealed that the Governor had approved the construction of the Amba–Bassa Road before the end of his tenure.

As part of the visit, the Speaker commissioned a two-classroom block and an office he built at Government Secondary School, Bassa. He also inaugurated two of the over 30 boreholes he provided across his constituency and symbolically presented a motorcycle, part of a larger empowerment initiative that includes motorcycles and tricycles.

Additionally, he made cash donations to several groups, including elders, youths, the Jatau Gida Gida political organization, and the Jatau Riders Mobilization Group, among others.
