The Anambra State Police Command has commenced an investigation into a shocking case of a young man allegedly chained by his father for five years in Igboukwu, Aguata Local Government Area.
The Command’s spokesperson, SP Tochukwu Ikenga, confirmed the development in a statement issued on Saturday in Awka.
According to Ikenga, the suspect claimed that his son had travelled abroad without seeking approval, a situation that reportedly led to the prolonged confinement upon his return.

The victim, identified as Chogbo, popularly known as Agudo, was said to have been chained by his father for five years over the alleged unauthorised journey abroad.
“Preliminary inquiries are ongoing to establish the facts and ensure the victim’s safety. Where culpability is established, those involved will face the full weight of the law,” Ikenga stated.
He further confirmed that the victim had since been rescued and was receiving adequate care.
The Police Command praised the youths of the community for uncovering the incident, describing their intervention as a commendable demonstration of community partnership in policing.
