By Iyojo
The Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Department of Culture, in partnership with the African Weaving Festival, will host the 3rd edition of the African Weaving Festival (AWeF 2025) from November 14, 2025, in Abuja.
The festival, themed “African Indigenous Fabrics: A Tool for Culture Diplomacy and Unity,” aims to celebrate Africa’s rich textile heritage while promoting cultural identity, creativity, and continental unity.
Mr. Sam Agbi, Executive Director of S&M, FCT Department of Culture and African Weaving Festival, emphasized that beyond its cultural significance, AWeF 2025 would boost tourism, attract visitors and exhibitors from Africa and the diaspora, and showcase Nigeria’s cultural tourism potential.
Agbi noted that the event would encourage heritage preservation, craft-based entrepreneurship, and cross-border cultural exchange. He also called on Ministries, Departments, and Agencies (MDAs) to support the three-day festival, which aims to revamp the nation’s cultural sector and contribute to peace, unity, and national economic development.
