The Presidential Compressed Natural Gas Initiative (PCNGI) on Tuesday received the Managing Director of the South East Development Commission (SEDC), Hon.

Mark Okoye II, on a strategic working visit, marking a significant step in the region’s transition toward cleaner energy.

Hon. Okoye was received by the Program Director and Chief Executive of PCNGI, Engr. Michael Oluwagbemi, as discussions focused on accelerating the adoption of Compressed Natural Gas (CNG) across Nigeria’s South East region.

Described as Nigeria’s industrial heartland and a key gas-producing zone, the South East is now poised to leverage CNG technology as a cleaner, cheaper, and more sustainable energy alternative for its industries and communities.

The meeting reflects the administration of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, GCFR’s commitment to deepening energy reform and innovation through gas-driven solutions that support economic development and environmental sustainability.

With the collaboration between PCNGI and the SEDC underway, stakeholders say the South East is primed to become a model region for CNG adoption, infrastructure, and investment in line with national energy transition goals.
