National Assembly Halts Legislative Activities to Honour Late President Muhammadu Buhari

The National Assembly of the Federal Republic of Nigeria has announced the suspension of all legislative activities following the death of former President Muhammadu Buhari, GCFR. He passed away on Sunday, 13th July 2025, in London, United Kingdom.
In a statement issued by the Clerk to the National Assembly, Kamoru Ogunlana, Esq., the leadership of the Senate and the House of Representatives directed that all parliamentary engagements be put on hold to allow members fully participate in the burial rites of the late President.
Members of the National Assembly have been advised to adjust their schedules accordingly.
The leadership of both chambers, on behalf of lawmakers and staff, expressed heartfelt condolences to the government and people of Nigeria, the people of Katsina State, as well as the late President’s family—his wives, children, and extended relatives.
President Muhammadu Buhari is remembered for his dedication to national unity and his unwavering integrity.
“May Almighty Allah grant his soul eternal rest in Aljannatul Firdaus,” the statement concluded.
