Governor Abba Yusuf of Kano State has launched a comprehensive investigation into the alleged connection between the State Commissioner for Transport, Alhaji Ibrahim Namadi, and a suspected drug baron, Sulaiman Aminu Dan Wawu.

This move comes in response to reports suggesting that Commissioner Namadi played a role in facilitating the controversial bail of Dan Wawu, whose name has been linked to drug trafficking.

Public outrage erupted after documents allegedly bearing the commissioner’s name surfaced, appearing to show his involvement in the release of the suspected drug kingpin.

In a statement issued Saturday by the governor’s spokesperson, Sanusi Bature, it was revealed that a seven-member special investigative committee has been constituted to probe the matter. The panel is chaired by Barrister Aminu Hussain, Governor Yusuf’s Special Adviser on Justice and Constitutional Matters.

According to the statement, “The committee is mandated to unravel the circumstances surrounding the incident and recommend appropriate actions with immediate effect.”

Other members of the committee include Hajiya Bilkisu Maimota (Secretary), Barr. Hamza Haladu, Barr. Hamza Nuhu Dantani, Alhaji Abdullahi Mahmoud Umar, Maj. Gen. Sani Muhammad (Rtd.), and Comrade Kabiru Said Dakata.
