NSHA Speaker Urges Moral Values, Discipline Among Youth, Donates Car to Boys’ Brigade
By David Odama
Speaker of the Nasarawa State House of Assembly, Rt. Hon. Danladi Jatau, Ph.D, has called on leaders across the country to instill moral values and discipline in the younger generation as a means of fostering peace, unity, and development in society.
Jatau made the appeal on Monday during the 2025 Annual Fellowship Camp of the Boys’ Brigade Nigeria, Nasarawa State Council, held at the NYSC Orientation Camp in Keffi.
The camp, which hosted over 3,250 youths, focused on training participants in discipline, moral values, and leadership.
Dr. Jatau emphasized that building moral character in young people would not only strengthen societal harmony but also contribute significantly to national development. He commended officials of the Boys’ Brigade for their dedication to training youths and urged them to sustain the effort.
“My presence here is to encourage you to continue to be good ambassadors of Christ wherever you find yourselves,” he said. “If everyone contributes to instilling moral values in the younger generation, our society will be better. His Excellency, Gov. Abdullahi Sule, has shown through his leadership that he harbors no religious bias, and this has brought peace, unity, and rapid development to our state.”
While acknowledging the inclusive leadership of Governor Sule, the Speaker also appreciated the Boys’ Brigade for recognizing the governor, his deputy, Dr. Emmanuel Akabe, and himself as potential leaders to serve the people in various capacities in the 2027 elections.
As part of his support, Jatau donated a car to the organization to ease its operations. “The donation is to show my appreciation and to enable you to perform your duties without difficulties,” he added, while praying for God’s guidance and blessings upon the members.
Earlier, the Nasarawa State President of the Boys’ Brigade, Akolo Success Ahmed, described the organization as more than a youth body, but a movement rooted in discipline, character-building, and service.
“Our mission is to instill the fear of God in young men, raising them as responsible citizens who will shine as lights in their families, communities, and the society at large,” he said. “By God’s grace, the Boys’ Brigade in Nasarawa State has continued to produce men and women of integrity who contribute positively in various spheres of life.”
Ahmed appealed for support in the areas of mobility, a Secretariat, land for agricultural projects, and a permanent campground. He also called on Governor Sule and Deputy Governor Akabe to heed the people’s call to contest for the Nasarawa North and Nasarawa South Senatorial Districts respectively in 2027.
He further urged Speaker Jatau to answer the call of his constituents by contesting for the Keffi/Karu/Kokona Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives come 2027.
The event was attended by representatives of the Emir of Keffi, Dr. Shehu Chindo Yamusa, including Alhaji Usman Lawal, Makaman Keffi, as well as the Special Adviser to the Governor on Christian Religion, Ambassador Isaac Kigbu, APC aspirant for Lafia/Obi Federal Constituency, clerics, and other dignitaries and well-wishers.
