The Management of Benue Investment and Property Company Limited (BIPC) has raised concerns over the circulation of counterfeit versions of its bread products in the market.

This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Head of Corporate Communications, Joyce Isiaku, on behalf of the Group Managing Director (GMD) of BIPC, Dr.

Raymond Asemakaha, and made available to newsmen in Makurdi on Tuesday.

Describing the development as unfortunate, Asemakaha announced that the company has introduced new security features on its bread wrappers to protect consumers and guarantee product authenticity.

According to him, the features include a Barcode Security System with a 13-digit serial number that can be scanned to verify authenticity, as well as Positive and Negative Sign Marks displayed on the top right edge of the wrappers to help distinguish genuine BIPC bread from fake products.

“We strongly advise members of the public to remain vigilant, always check for these features, and scan the barcode before purchase or consumption to confirm authenticity,” the GMD stated.

He further urged consumers, distributors, and retailers to promptly report any suspicious products to BIPC through the following dedicated phone numbers: +2348069263846, 07089340533, 07060616078, and +2349041431800.
