The Oganenigu People’s Mandate (OPM) has lauded Governor Usman Ododo for awarding and commencing the construction of the Iyale–Odolu–Oganenigu road project.

Speaking on behalf of the group, its president, Prophet Abimaje, described the development as a landmark achievement that will be remembered as proof of the governor’s dedication to the welfare of his people.

“By this singular act, Governor Ododo will go down in history as the leader who wiped away our tears,” Abimaje stated, urging the governor and relevant stakeholders to ensure close supervision for quality delivery.

The ongoing construction, which spans 11 communities in Oganenigwu Ward of Dekina Local Government Area, aims to open up rural communities and ease transportation challenges. The project, expected to be completed within an 18-month timeframe, has been widely praised by residents and community leaders.

Prominent stakeholders, including Dr. Ocholi, Hon. Umar Isa Edibo, Hon. Abu Omede, and several others from Oganenigu Ward, commended Governor Ododo for fulfilling his campaign promises, describing him as a “perpetual promise keeper.”

The Kogi State Government, through the Ministry of Energy and Rural Development, has reaffirmed its commitment to ensuring the project’s timely completion.

Residents of Oganenigwu Ward have expressed delight over the development, noting that the road had remained in poor condition for decades, resulting in heavy post-harvest losses due to the absence of reliable access routes to nearby markets.

The improved road network is expected to significantly boost connectivity between rural areas, nearby towns, and markets. This will facilitate easier movement of goods and services, promote trade, and create job opportunities. Enhanced access will help farmers and local businesses increase income, reduce transportation costs, and stimulate economic growth.

For the people of Oganenigwu Ward, the project represents more than just road construction—it is a long-awaited relief. With the new road, farmers will now transport their produce with ease, while residents will gain better access to healthcare, education, and other essential services.
