The Yobe Government has ordered the immediate closure of all boarding Secondary Schools across the state as a proactive step to ensure the safety of students.

This was announced in a statement issued on Saturday in Damaturu by Alhaji Mamman Mohammed, Director-General, Press and Media Affairs to Governor Mai Mala Buni.

He explained that the decision followed a security meeting convened by the governor with security chiefs in the state.

According to Mohammed, the directive became necessary after a review of recent security breaches recorded in schools in some states across the federation.

He added that Governor Buni urged citizens to continue praying for leaders, security personnel, peace, and enhanced security both in the state and the country.

Mohammed also quoted Dr. Bukar Aji-Bukar, Permanent Secretary of the state Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, as saying that the closure is temporary and will remain in effect until the situation improves.

Principals of all affected schools have been instructed to ensure strict compliance. (NAN)
