The Foundation for Justice, Development and Peace (FJDP), the humanitarian arm of the Catholic Diocese of Makurdi, has distributed dignity and hygiene kits to the most vulnerable households at an Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camp in Makurdi, Benue State.

The intervention followed a data-capturing exercise carried out among Yelewata IDPs currently taking shelter at the International Market IDP Camp in Makurdi, the state capital.

The distribution was conducted under the “Benue IDP Response Project,” being implemented by FJDP with funding support from Save the Children International (SCI).

Speaking during the exercise, the FJDP Coordinator, Rev. Fr. Philip Apuu, explained that the provision of the kits was aimed at improving the well-being of vulnerable populations by encouraging proper hygiene practices.

He noted that the initiative would help reduce the risk of communicable diseases while also restoring dignity to displaced persons living in the camp.

According to him, the project specifically targeted households comprising women, children, the elderly, and Persons Living With Disabilities (PLWDs), who are particularly at risk in IDP environments.

Fr. Apuu expressed FJDP’s appreciation to Save the Children International for the support and partnership that made the intervention possible, adding that the organization remains committed to improving the lives of displaced persons in Benue State.
