Fire Razes FIRS Office in Abuja

A fire outbreak has occurred at the Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) office located in Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
In a statement issued on Saturday in Abuja and made available to Capital Post, the Technical Assistant (Print Media) to the Executive Chairman of FIRS, Sikiru Akinola, confirmed that the incident was swiftly brought under control.


According to the statement, the fire started on the fourth floor of the building and was successfully extinguished through the combined efforts of FIRS security personnel and officials of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service.
The statement read in part: “The Federal Inland Revenue Service (FIRS) wishes to inform the general public that a fire incident occurred in the early hours of Saturday, December 20, 2025, at one of its offices located at No. 15 Sokode Crescent, Wuse Zone 5, Abuja.
“The fire, which originated on the fourth floor of the building, was promptly tackled by security personnel on duty. With the timely intervention of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT) Fire Service and other emergency responders, the incident was effectively contained, preventing it from spreading to other parts of the building.
“Thankfully, no lives were lost. However, several offices on the affected floor sustained damage.
“Investigations into the cause of the fire have commenced, with preliminary findings suggesting a possible electrical fault. Meanwhile, all internal safety measures are being reviewed and reinforced to prevent future occurrences.”
