In a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Malam Ismail Mudashir, Senator Barau described the arrests as reassuring and urged the police to ensure a comprehensive investigation and speedy prosecution of the suspects.
According to a statement released on Sunday by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Abdullahi Haruna Kiyawa, the arrested suspects are Umar Auwalu (male), 23, of Sabuwar Gandu Quarters, Kano; Isyaku Yakubu (male), also known as “Chebe,” 40, of Sagagi Quarters, Kano; and Yakubu Abdulaziz (male), also known as “Wawo,” 21, of Sabon Gida Sharada Quarters, Kano.
Senator Barau commended the command for its prompt action, describing the arrests as the first crucial step, and stressed the need for diligence to ensure justice is served.
“I commend the command for its swiftness. This is the first leg; the police must carry out a thorough investigation and ensure a speedy trial so that these killers are prosecuted and brought to book,” he said.
“They must face the full wrath of the law. We will follow this matter to its logical conclusion. Over the past hours, I have been traumatised, devastated and overwhelmed by the gruesome murder of these innocent children and their mother. This act is barbaric and beyond comprehension.”
