MCO Strengthens Service Delivery, Reaffirms Commitment To SERVICOM Principles
The Nigeria Mining Cadastre Office, NMCO, has reiterated its commitment to strengthening service delivery and improving public engagement across Nigeria’s mining sector.
Director-General, Mr. Obadiah Simon Nkom made the statement in Abuja during the 35th Ministerial SERVICOM Community Networking Meeting and Innovation Sensitization, organized by MCO under the federal civil service’s 1Gov Initiative.

He urged civil servants to uphold SERVICOM principles of conviction, renewal, dedication, and commitment, stressing that personal integrity and excellence are essential for effective public service.
Nkom highlighted that Nigerian citizens are the primary customers of government services and must be treated with respect, dignity, and efficiency.
Represented by Deputy Director Mr. Okey Nwagbara, he explained that the programme, originally established in 2004 by former President Olusegun Obasanjo, was designed to address poor service delivery and ensure fairness, transparency, and accountability in public institutions.
The meeting included comprehensive brainstorming and evaluation sessions to review MCO’s performance during the 2025 service year, identify gaps, and develop robust work plans for 2026 with clear targets for citizen-focused improvements.
Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Solid Minerals Development, Mr. Faruk Yusuf Yabo, represented by Mr. Sanni Atta, commended MCO for hosting the session, noting that quarterly networking meetings provide opportunities to strengthen SERVICOM principles, share best practices, and institutionalize service delivery reforms across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
SERVICOM Team Lead, Mrs. Lucy Mlumuno Zach-Ukoh, stressed that service delivery is about orientation and commitment rather than sanctions.
She emphasized that the Service Charter and complaint mechanisms ensure accountability while guiding civil servants to serve citizens efficiently, transparently, and with measurable outcomes.
