The Federal Government has directed all Ministries, Departments and Agencies (MDAs) to ensure strict compliance with the Medium-Term Expenditure Framework (MTEF) as part of broader efforts to reinforce budget credibility, fiscal discipline, and sustainable fiscal management.

The directive was issued by Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume, during a courtesy visit by the Fiscal Responsibility Commission (FRC) in Abuja.

Akume emphasised that adherence to the MTEF is critical for maintaining a coordinated fiscal environment that supports long-term economic growth.

He explained that the framework helps align government expenditure with national development priorities while improving predictability in annual budgeting.

The SGF noted that disciplined fiscal planning would enhance transparency in public spending and strengthen confidence in government financial management processes.

In his remarks, Chairman of the FRC, Victor Chinmerem Muruako, commended the administration of President Bola Tinubu for its reform-oriented governance approach.

Muruako stated that ongoing fiscal reforms are expected to reinforce the commission’s oversight mandate, promote accountability, and improve efficiency in public resource utilisation across government institutions.
