Four Senators Defect from PDP to APC as Senate Resumes Sitting
As the Senate resumed sitting after its short recess, four senators announced their defection from the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to the All Progressives Congress (APC).
The lawmakers include Senator Amos Yohanna representing Adamawa North, Senator Aminu Abbas representing Adamawa Central, Senator Aliyu Bilbis representing Zamfara North, as well as Senator Banigo Ipalibo representing Rivers West.
In their separate letters addressed to the President of the Senate, Senator Godswill Akpabio, the lawmakers cited irreconcilable divisions within their former party, the PDP, as the main reason for their decision to shift their political allegiance to the APC.
The senators also informed their colleagues that their decisions followed due consultations with their constituents across their respective senatorial districts and pledged unalloyed loyalty to the APC.
