Wike Praises JICA’s Support in Ongoing Abuja Master Plan Upgrade

The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Barr. Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has commended the collaboration between the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) in reviewing and improving the Abuja Master Plan.


While receiving the Japanese Ambassador to Nigeria, Mr. Suzuki Hideo, Wike appreciated Japan’s continued support across key sectors in the FCT, noting their initial role in designing the city.
He stated, “We will continue to work together to ensure the successful review of the Abuja Master Plan,” while also acknowledging JICA’s growing involvement in areas such as health, nutrition, and agriculture within the territory.
Ambassador Hideo reaffirmed Japan’s commitment to supporting Nigeria, particularly in agriculture and livestock development, as well as in tackling urban mobility, drainage systems, and advancing smart city initiatives.
JICA’s Chief Representative, Mr. Ishigami Keiji, disclosed that the review process has reached a crucial phase, adding that efforts are focused on building a sustainable and resilient Federal Capital Territory.
