The Honourable Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, Ezenwo Nyesom Wike, has affirmed the readiness of the FCT Administration to collaborate with DAAR Communication Plc on the development of a pioneer “Media City” in the Asokoro District.

This assurance was given when the Board and Management of DAAR Communication Plc, led by its Chairman, Raymond Dokpesi Jr.
, paid him a courtesy visit on Tuesday, April 7, 2026.
Wike urged the organization to stay focused on its vision, describing the proposed project as a potential landmark that could significantly enhance Nigeria’s media landscape and elevate the profile of the nation’s capital.
“I want to partner with you over your ambitious media city project. It’s very ambitious but with commitment, you can achieve it. It will be the first of its kind in Nigeria if it materializes,” the Minister said.
He also addressed lingering land documentation concerns involving DAAR Communication’s Plot 4241 in Asokoro. The Minister directed the Department of Land Administration to resolve issues related to land size and perimeter fencing.
Speaking further, Wike advised media practitioners to uphold professionalism by ensuring their reports are non-partisan and backed by verifiable facts, noting concerns about misleading information.
“It is important that our reporters should go and make research and find out if what they’ve heard or what has been said is correct or not,” he added.
He also challenged the media to hold political actors accountable, stressing the importance of due process and adherence to established rules.
In his remarks, Dokpesi explained that the Media City initiative is designed to improve media production technology, boost tourism, and create opportunities for small and medium-scale enterprises within the FCT.
The FCT Administration has continued to receive commendation for its commitment to developing quality infrastructure in upscale districts such as Guzape and Asokoro.
