Tension in Shiroro as bandit attack claims lives, security operatives battle to restore calm

The Niger State Police Command has confirmed an attack by armed bandits in parts of Shiroro Local Government Area of the state.
The Police Public Relations Officer, Wasiu Abiodun, who confirmed the incident, said the attack occurred on Tuesday, April 7, at about 6:30 a.

m., when suspected bandits invaded Bagna village before proceeding to Erena village.

Abiodun disclosed that two members of a vigilante group and a driver attached to the joint security team lost their lives during a confrontation with the bandits, while several other security personnel sustained injuries.
He added that security operatives are still monitoring the situation, noting that calm is gradually returning to the affected communities.
The police spokesman assured residents that efforts are ongoing to ensure the safety of lives and property in the area.
