FRSC VOWS TO PROSECUTE TANKER OPERATORS ON SAFETY STANDARDS

The Federal Road Safety Corps FRSC is to prosecute petroleum tanker operators who tamper with speed limit devices and other critical safety systems .

The FRSC Corps Marshal, Mallam Shehu Mohammed, gave the warning in Abuja during the 2026 Technical Training for Corps desk officers implementing the Safe-to-Load programme, declaring that the era of impunity on the highways is over.



He emphasized that operators must strictly comply with prescribed maintenance schedules for all safety-critical components.

According to him, the Corps will intensify monitoring through both physical inspections and the deployment of technology-driven compliance systems at depots and along transit corridors.

Represented by the Zonal Commanding Officer in charge of Zone 7, Assistant Corps Marshal Comfort Asom, the Corps Marshal reminded desk officers that every inspection and intervention contributes directly to saving lives, protecting the environment, and strengthening system integrity.

In his opening remarks, the FCT Sector Commander, Mr Tijani Iliyasu, said the training was designed to equip officers with advanced knowledge, technical skills, and enforcement strategies tailored to the complexities of petroleum truck operations.

He assured that the Corps would continue to strengthen collaboration with stakeholders to enhance the safe transportation of petroleum products and create safer roads across the country.
