ACCI Receives Prof. Wole Soyinka For Foundation Laying Of National Seadogs Secretariat in Abuja

The Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) proudly received Nobel Laureate, Prof. Wole Soyinka, during his visit to Abuja Chamber of Commerce and Industry (ACCI) for the foundation laying ceremony of the National Secretariat of the National Association of Seadogs.

The President of ACCI, Chief Emeka Obegolu, SAN, PhD, warmly welcomed Prof.

Soyinka and members of the Association to the Chamber. In his remarks, Chief Obegolu commended the National Association of Seadogs for its outstanding contributions to society through humanitarian services, advocacy, and public enlightenment.

He highlighted the Association’s commitment to community development initiatives such as medical outreach, charity work, and environmental sanitation, as well as its promotion of human rights, social justice, and good governance.

He further noted that the Association’s efforts have significantly improved community welfare, raised public awareness on critical issues, encouraged responsible citizenship, and contributed to national development. Chief Obegolu used the opportunity to invite members of the Association to partner more closely with ACCI, emphasizing that the Chamber represents the voice of the private sector in the Federal Capital Territory and beyond, with over 16 sectoral groups driving economic engagement.

In recognition of his steadfast support and strategic partnership, Chief Obegolu was presented with a plaque of appreciation by the Association. The honor acknowledged his visionary leadership and unwavering commitment to humanistic ideals and excellence, which have greatly contributed to the growth of both the Abuja Chapter and the National Body of the Association.

The 1st Deputy President of ACCI, Prof. Adesoji Adesugba, who is also a leader within the Association, lauded the ACCI President for his instrumental role in securing the space for the Secretariat. He also presented his book titled “Ideas Don’t Die” during the event.

Performing the foundation laying, Prof. Soyinka stated that the Secretariat is being established for the benefit of humanity. He addressed common misconceptions about the Association, emphasizing that its impactful work speaks for itself. He encouraged members to remain true to the founding ideals of the organization while continuing to make meaningful contributions to society.

Prof. Soyinka also commended ACCI as a top-tier institution in economic development and private sector representation. The visit concluded with a guided tour of the ACCI Business Entrepreneurship Skills and Technology (BEST) Centre, led by Chief Obegolu and Prof. Adesugba.
