Family tensions surrounding BBNaija star Ilebaye take a new turn as her mother confirms her father’s release from police custody and dismisses online drug allegations.
Lami Odiniya, mother of Big Brother Naija winner Ilebaye, has confirmed that her ex-husband, Emmanuel Odiniya, has been released from police custody following a family dispute that went viral on Friday.
Mr. Odiniya had reportedly been detained at the Wuye Divisional Police Station after a livestream surfaced online showing Ilebaye visibly distressed with a swollen face while her father stood nearby.
According to Lami, the incident occurred when Ilebaye visited her father’s residence to see her younger brothers and discuss preparations for her 24th birthday scheduled for May 9.
She explained that the conversation later escalated into an argument after Mr. Odiniya allegedly accused Ilebaye of being influenced by her mother.
The incident has once again drawn attention to the long-standing strained relationship within the family since the end of the couple’s 32-year marriage.
Lami disclosed that a court had previously granted Mr. Odiniya custody of their two sons, aged 11 and 14. Following his arrest, the boys were temporarily placed in her care.
However, she said the police later instructed that the children be returned to their father’s home in compliance with the existing court order.
Lami also denied rumours circulating online that Ilebaye was under the influence of drugs during the altercation.
She further revealed that her daughter has since been discharged from the hospital after receiving medical treatment, including IV drips, to stabilise her condition.
