No proof, no progress: Reps panel suspends NILDS DG probe over lack of evidence.

The House of Representatives Committee on Legislative Library, Research and Documentation has suspended its investigative hearing into allegations against the Director-General of the National Institute for Legislative and Democratic Studies (NILDS), Prof.

Suleiman Abubakar.
The decision followed the inability of the petitioners to provide documentary evidence to substantiate their allegations.
The petitioners, the Association of Legislative Drafting and Advocacy Practitioners, had accused Prof. Abubakar of participating in a governorship primary election without resigning his appointment, an action they claimed contravened constitutional and civil service regulations.
Chairman of the committee, Yusuf Galambi, directed the petitioners to submit relevant documents, including political party records, nomination forms, and expression of interest forms allegedly linked to the NILDS Director-General. He also noted that a formal invitation had already been extended to Prof. Abubakar.
Earlier, the representative of the Association of Legislative Drafting and Advocacy Practitioners, Williams Amuga, told the committee that the allegations were based on reports and publications circulating on social media.
Following the submission, the committee suspended the hearing and instructed the petitioners to return with additional evidence before any further proceedings can continue.
