A professional private security guard, Adebanjo Samuel, has received widespread praise and national recognition after displaying exceptional honesty while carrying out his duties in Lagos.

Samuel, who works with Proton Security Service Limited and is stationed at a busy First City Monument Bank (FCMB) branch on Marina, Lagos, found a customer’s misplaced sum of $9,100 in cash.

Instead of keeping the money, he immediately followed the necessary procedures to ensure the entire amount was returned to its rightful owner.
In an official statement, Proton Security Service Limited commended Samuel, stating that his conduct reflects the ethical values and strong character standards the company instills in its personnel.
The company’s Managing Director, Odebunmi Adekunmi, and Director of Business Development and Strategy, Olabisi Familusi, announced plans to organize a grand reception at the firm’s headquarters to honour and reward Samuel’s outstanding act before colleagues, family members, and media representatives.
Speaking on the incident, Adebanjo Samuel said:
“It is not about the amount; it is about the principle. I was raised to be truthful and to do what is right irrespective of the circumstances. Even if the money had been much more, I would still have returned it. Integrity is something I believe should never be compromised.”
The company’s management noted that Samuel’s actions project a positive image of young Nigerians and demonstrate that professional excellence is built on integrity and good character.
The inspiring incident has quickly become a talking point within the local financial community, serving as a reminder that honesty remains one of society’s most valuable virtues.
