City Boy Movement ready to deliver overwhelming victory for Tinubu in 2027 — Akpabio.
President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has expressed confidence that the City Boy Movement is well-positioned to secure a resounding victory for President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s re-election bid in 2027.
Akpabio stated this on Wednesday while receiving a delegation of the City Boy Movement during a courtesy visit to his office. He commended the group’s commitment and patriotism, describing its mission to support Tinubu’s second-term ambition as timely and strategic.
According to him, the Movement has continued to gain momentum across the country.
“The City Boy Movement is like a wind blowing across the nation. You may not see it, but you can feel it. Every political party in Nigeria is already feeling the impact of the City Boy Movement,” he said.
He added that the existence of the group would ensure that President Tinubu is represented at every polling unit during future elections.
“Never again shall we have a situation in any polling unit in Nigeria where Mr President will not have an agent because we have the City Boy Movement.
“In the last election, if your Movement had existed, many of our votes that were not counted in many polling units would have been counted.
“I want you to have it in mind that you have come up at the right time, and I know that you are all poised to ensure maximum victory come 2027,” Akpabio said.
The Senate President urged members of the Movement to remain focused as they mobilise support and educate voters across the country.
“While you are going round the country mobilising, sensitising the populace and educating voters, other political parties are sleeping. They are not doing the same.
“But when the victory of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu is announced, some people will say it was rigged. Ignore such claims and remain focused,” he said.
Akpabio encouraged the youths to see the campaign as an opportunity to shape Nigeria’s future while gaining valuable leadership and political experience.
“This is your turn to shape your future. This is your turn to take the lead on how Nigeria should go. As you campaign for the President, you are also learning how to mobilise and campaign for yourselves in the future,” he said.
He assured the group of the Senate’s support, praising young Nigerians who have chosen constructive engagement over social vices.
“We are with you. The Senate of the Federal Republic of Nigeria is pleased with the youths of this country who have decided to tow the right path.
“We are mindful that some youths, because of cultism and drug abuse, have become misguided. But while we say ‘build the youths’ because they are the future, we must also ‘maintain the elders’ because they are the people God has given wisdom today,” he added.
Quoting a philosopher, Akpabio advised members of the Movement and Nigerian youths to remain disciplined and committed to national development.
“It is not a tragedy when a nonentity whimpers through life and ends up a failure in the grave. But it is a tragedy when a potentially achieving young man or woman, because of a flaw in character, becomes a failure and ends up in the grave.
“You are privileged to work for the future of your country. You are privileged to follow the right path that has nothing to do with cultism or terrorism.
“You are privileged to chart the course of the next administration. You are also privileged to belong to the incoming government of Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu in 2027. It will be a tragedy for any of you to derail. We assure you that we are 100 percent with you,” he said.
Earlier, Director-General of the City Boy Movement, Francis Shoga, said the visit was aimed at strengthening collaboration between the Movement and the National Assembly.
He said the group was seeking the continued guidance and support of the Senate President as it expands its programmes nationwide, promotes civic engagement among young Nigerians and contributes to national development.
