Reps Probe ₦1.3bn PFIPC Budget Amid Legality Questions

The House of Representatives has inaugurated an ad-hoc committee to investigate the alleged ₦1.3 billion budget allocation to the Presidential Foreign Investment Promotion Council (PFIPC) following concerns over the council’s legal status.
Speaking at the inauguration in Abuja, the Speaker of the House of Representatives, Dr. Tajudeen Abbas, represented by the House Leader, Prof. Julius Ihonvbere, said the probe is aimed at uncovering the facts surrounding the establishment of the council and the approval of its funding.
Chairman of the committee, Yusuf Gagdi, assured Nigerians that the investigation would be conducted with transparency, fairness and strict adherence to due process.
In her presentation, the Head of the Civil Service of the Federation, Mrs. Didi Walson-Jack, informed the committee that her office discovered the law purportedly establishing the PFIPC was fake after the agency appeared in the 2026 federal budget, prompting officials to verify its legal status. She also disclosed that the office occupied by the council at Phase III of the Federal Secretariat, Abuja, is part of the office space officially allocated to the Office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation (OSGF).
