Idoma Convention: Omale Showcases Alia’s Development Strides in Benue

The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in Benue State, Mr Benjamin Omale, has highlighted the achievements of Governor Hyacinth Alia’s administration across the state, particularly in the Benue South Senatorial District.

Omale, who represented Governor Alia at the first annual convention of the Idoma Community in London, United Kingdom, said the administration had executed infrastructure and other development projects worth more than N100 billion in the senatorial district within the last three years.
He also disclosed that the Alia administration had committed several hundreds of billions of naira to infrastructural development in Benue North-West and Benue North-East Senatorial Districts.
According to him, the projects across the three senatorial districts demonstrate the administration’s commitment to equitable and balanced development, adding that the achievements had increased the governor’s popularity among the people ahead of the 2027 governorship election.
Omale said three major road projects alone in Zone C had a combined contract value of about N74.86 billion.
He listed them as the rehabilitation and construction of the 52-kilometre Oju-Awajir Road, valued at N25.59 billion and traversing Oju, Konshisha and Gwer East Local Government Areas; the 31.36-kilometre Igumale-Agila Road in Ado Local Government Area, valued at N19.37 billion; and the 43.5-kilometre Obagaji-Okokolo-Agagbe Road, valued at N29.89 billion and covering Agatu and Gwer West Local Government Areas.
The APC chairman also cited the construction and renovation of 25 primary healthcare centres across five local government areas in Zone C, including Ohimini, Otukpo, Okpokwu, Obi and Oju.
He said the administration had equally undertaken infrastructural interventions in 29 schools across the district, in addition to five schools selected under the 2025 Matching Grant Programme.
“The schools are spread across Otukpo, Okpokwu, Ogbadibo, Obi, Ado, Agatu, Apa, Ohimini and Oju local government areas,” he said.
Omale said the governor’s interventions in critical sectors such as roads, education and healthcare were evidence of his administration’s commitment to improving the quality of life of the people and promoting development across the state.
Speaking on the significance of the convention, Omale expressed appreciation to Governor Alia for the confidence reposed in him to represent the state government at the event.
He commended the governor for what he described as his commitment to unity, peace, inclusive development and stronger engagement with the Idoma diaspora.
He also praised the Och’Idoma and his wife, as well as the President of the Idoma Community UK, Chief Williams Obande, and the entire executive for their leadership and efforts toward uniting Idoma people in the diaspora.
“This historic convention is a powerful platform for preserving our heritage, strengthening unity, empowering our youth and connecting the diaspora with our homeland. Together, let us build a stronger, more united and prosperous Idoma people at home and abroad,” Omale said.
The APC chairman called on Idoma people at home and in the diaspora to support the re-election of Governor Alia in 2027, arguing that a renewed mandate would enable the administration to consolidate and expand its development projects across Zone C and the state.
Omale, also known as Ohonyeta Ki Doma, urged the people to look beyond political differences and support continuity, stressing that the development recorded under the present administration should be sustained for the benefit of current and future generations.
