NTAC DG Yusuf Buba Yakub at 58: “Celebrate Me by Giving Hope to Others”
The Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC), Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub, has dedicated his 58th birthday to Nigerians in need of care, support and direction, urging friends, associates and well-wishers to mark the occasion by extending kindness to the less privileged.
The NTAC helmsman, who clocks 58 today, said he sees the occasion as an opportunity to reflect on the blessings of life and the responsibility to give back to society, particularly to people who may not have the means or opportunity to meet their basic needs.
In a special appeal to those wishing to celebrate him with gifts, Buba Yakub urged them to instead identify someone in their neighbourhood who is suffering from lack or visit an orphanage and offer meaningful assistance.
“Rather than buying a birthday gift for me, I would be most fulfilled if you could find someone around you who is in need and offer that person some care, support or encouragement. You may also choose to visit an orphanage and put a smile on the face of a child,” he said.
The NTAC DG expressed gratitude to God for the gift of life and the opportunity to serve Nigeria, stressing that birthdays should not only be occasions for celebration but also moments for gratitude, reflection and renewed commitment to humanity.
He appealed to Nigerians to make compassion a daily practice, noting that even the smallest act of kindness could restore hope and dignity to someone going through difficult times.
For Buba Yakub, therefore, his 58th birthday is less about receiving gifts and more about giving hope, sharing love and touching lives.
Born in Kaduna to the royal family of Captain Buba of Huba origins of Adamawa State, Buba Yakub began life in grassroots politics by representing his Local Government Area, State Constituency and Adamawa State in many political positions and programmes across various political dispensations.
After several political, entrepreneurship and humanitarian stints across the country, the NTAC DG, a former National Chairman of the Advanced Congress of Democrats (ACD), one of the national political parties that defined the politics of the Obasanjo years, won a seat at the House of Representatives, where he represented the good people of Gombi/Hong Federal Constituency for two consecutive tenures and served as Chairman of the Committee on Foreign Affairs.
He was appointed by President Tinubu on August 22, 2023, as Director General of the Nigerian Technical Aid Corps (NTAC). In nearly the last three years since he assumed office at NTAC, the former lawmaker and real estate mogul has brought his progressive leadership acumen to bear on the mandate, operations and programmes of the Agency, to the applause of many distinguished Nigerians and the international community.
This is wishing a great birthday celebration to a man of many parts, some kind of a colossus, with a foothold on Politics, Leadership, Philanthropy, Real Estate and, above all, Farming.
Rt. Hon. Yusuf Buba Yakub loves to be remembered for the impact he has made in the lives of those whose paths have crossed his.
