Senator Orji Uzor Kalu’s 2027 re-election bid continues to attract fresh endorsements across Abia North, with the latest wave of support emerging from Umunneochi Local Government Area, where community leaders, political stakeholders and chieftains of the All Progressives Congress (APC) rallied behind the lawmaker during his ward-to-ward tour of Lomara, Obinolu Obiagu, Amorie and Leru on Thursday.
The tour witnessed the participation of community leaders, elders, women, youths and party faithful, with prominent stakeholders expressing support for the senator’s return to the National Assembly.
Among those who publicly backed Kalu were businessman Chief Etomchukwu Uba, popularly known as Akuchinyeremba Isuochi; Mr Dike Olekamma; Lomara President-General, Eze Aloysius; the Vice President-General of Amorie; and the APC candidate for Umunneochi State Constituency, Hon. Uche Stanley Ebere.
Speaking during the engagements, Chief Etomchukwu Uba recalled a road project executed in the community during Kalu’s tenure as governor of Abia State, citing it as part of the senator’s longstanding connection with the people.
Uba urged residents to support Kalu’s re-election, pointing to the road project and the senator’s continued engagement with the community as reasons for his endorsement.

At Leru Ward, Mr Dike Olekamma also reaffirmed his support for Kalu, joining other stakeholders who called for his return to the Senate in 2027.
The APC House of Assembly candidate for Umunneochi, Hon. Uche Stanley Ebere, who hails from Leru Ward and accompanied Kalu throughout the tour, called on residents and party members to deliver bloc votes for the senator in the forthcoming general election.
Ebere urged APC members to remain united, arguing that sustained support for Kalu would enable him to continue representing the interests of Abia North at the National Assembly.
At Lomara, President-General Eze Aloysius joined community leaders and residents in receiving the senator and expressing support for his re-election bid.
A similar reception greeted Kalu in Amorie, where the community’s Vice President-General and other stakeholders participated in the engagement and pledged their support.
The senator also visited Obinolu Obiagu in Lomara Ward, interacting with traditional and community leaders, elders, women and youths as he continued consultations across Umunneochi.
Addressing residents during the tour, Kalu extended his gratitude to the communities for their reception and reiterated his focus to their development, promising to intensify efforts to attract projects and support initiatives aimed at improving living conditions.
The former Abia governor stressed that his relationship with the people extended beyond election periods, assuring them that their concerns would continue to receive attention. He also urged residents to sustain peace and unity while contributing to the development of their communities.
The day’s engagements ended with a reception hosted by Chief Larry Onuegbu, a prominent businessman and Leru indigene who owns Larryben Motors, at his residence.
The gathering brought together party leaders, community stakeholders and supporters who had participated in the ward tour.
Kalu expressed gratitude to Onuegbu for hosting him and his entourage, while also appreciating the political leaders and community stakeholders who joined the engagements across the wards.
The Umunneochi tour forms part of Kalu’s ongoing consultations across Abia North as political activities ahead of the 2027 general election continue to gather pace.
