The National Chairman of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), His Excellency, Senator (Dr.) David Alechenu Bonaventure Mark, GCON, has formally inaugurated the party’s Presidential Campaign Council (PCC), charging members to work hard, mobilise Nigerians and leave no stone unturned ahead of the 2027 general elections.

Speaking at the inauguration ceremony on Friday, October 9, 2026, Senator Mark said the council had been established to serve, mobilise and deliver, stressing that Nigeria was at a critical crossroads and that Nigerians were looking for leadership that understood their challenges and respected their dignity.

He noted that the party’s responsibility went beyond winning an election, explaining that the ADC must present Nigerians with a credible alternative and restore their belief and trust in governance as a means of protecting citizens and improving their lives.

LEAVE NO STONE UNTURNED

Charging members of the Presidential Campaign Council, Mark urged them to leave no stone unturned, ensure that legitimate questions were answered and leave no Nigerian behind.

He called on the council to reach every state, local government, ward and community, while engaging traditional rulers, religious leaders, women, youths, workers, farmers, professionals, traders, artisans, students and persons living with disabilities.

He stressed that no one should have reason to claim that the ADC failed to reach out, listen or include them in its activities.

THIS MUST BE A CAMPAIGN OF ISSUES
The ADC National Chairman said the party’s campaign must focus on issues that matter to Nigerians, including the high cost of living, poverty, the economy, security, employment, food, education, healthcare, infrastructure, inflation, good governance, the rule of law and the future of young people.
He observed that Nigerians were already familiar with their problems, noting that the party did not need to lecture them about their suffering.

Instead, he said the ADC must listen to the people and clearly explain how it intends to address the challenges confronting the country.

A TICKET FOR ALL NIGERIANS
Mark described the ADC’s Atiku Abubakar-Rotimi Amaechi ticket as a representation of experience, capacity and national reach.

However, he emphasised that Nigeria remained the greater project, urging the party to reach out to every region, faith and ethnic nationality.

He called for bridge-building rather than division, stressing that political disagreements should not breed hatred and that electoral competition must be conducted without violence or the destruction of the bonds holding Nigerians together.

TO THE CANDIDATES

Addressing the presidential and vice-presidential candidates, Mark urged them to continue presenting themselves as candidates for the entire country.
He advised them to speak with respect, listen with humility and campaign with courage, while ensuring that their messages reflected competence, experience, integrity, inclusion and national unity.

The ADC chairman also urged the candidates to respond peacefully to provocation during their campaigns.
He said that if they were physically attacked, they should respond with a friendly handshake, while insults should be met with a smile.

PROTECT THE ELECTORAL PROCESS

As the country approaches the 2027 general elections, Mark reaffirmed the ADC’s commitment to protecting the integrity of the electoral process.
He called on the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) and other institutions responsible for conducting the elections to remain impartial, transparent and professional.

He further insisted that every eligible Nigerian must be able to vote freely, safely and without intimidation.

Mark declared that the party would reject violence, hate speech and the politics of revenge, while competing fiercely within the ambits of the law.

A CALL TO DUTY

Charging members of the Presidential Campaign Council to embrace their responsibilities, Mark urged them to serve with courage, discipline, humility and patriotism.

He reminded them that history had placed an important responsibility on their shoulders, warning them not to underestimate the assignment before them.

According to him, the road ahead would require sacrifice, organisation, resources, patience, honesty and resilience.

He congratulated all members of the ADC Presidential Campaign Council and formally inaugurated the council.
Mark concluded by praying for God’s blessings upon the African Democratic Congress, its candidates and the Federal Republic of Nigeria.
