Makinde Fires Back at Wike Over Rainbow Coalition, Says APM Is No Longer a ‘Non-Starter’
By Our Reporter
Allied People’s Movement (APM) presidential candidate and Oyo State Governor, Engr. Seyi Makinde, has mocked his political opponents over the controversial Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State, questioning why a party they previously dismissed as inconsequential is now being counted among those allegedly supporting the coalition.
Makinde made the remark on Thursday during a town hall meeting in Enugu, South-East Nigeria, while addressing residents of the region.
He urged the people of the South-East to remain focused on winning hearts and protecting their votes, while their political opponents continue to engage in what he described as political miscalculations.
According to Governor Makinde, his opponents will continue to spend money attempting to attract members of opposition parties such as the APM, while his team will concentrate on genuinely canvassing for votes ahead of the forthcoming elections.
He explained that his reaction followed a television report in which one of his friends reportedly listed the APM among political parties supporting the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State.

“One of my good friends, I saw on the television listed APM as one of the parties supporting the Rainbow Coalition in Rivers State recently.
“This is a party they have regarded as non-starters, as portrayed by them on several occasions and fora, but they are now spending money to attract some of its members.”
Makinde’s remarks centred on what he described as a contradiction in his opponents’ attitude towards the APM, noting that a party previously regarded as a political non-starter was now attracting their attention.
He urged the people of the South-East to rise above political sentiments and vote massively for the APM in the forthcoming general elections.
