Akpabio Mourns Rear Admiral Musa Katagum, Describes Death as a “Grave Loss” to the Nigerian Military.
The President of the Senate, Godswill Akpabio, has extended his heartfelt condolences to the Chief Medical Director of the Federal University of Health Sciences Teaching Hospital, Azare, Dr. Dauda Katagum, over the passing of his brother, Rear Admiral Musa Bello Katagum.
The Senate President described the death of the Senior Military Officer at the age of 55 as a painful loss to both his immediate family and the nation at large.
A condolence message personally signed by the Senate President reads in part: “The late Rear Admiral, widely known as “Commander Katagum,” had a distinguished career in the Nigerian Navy, rising to the prestigious position of Chief of Naval Operations. Senator Akpabio, who had known the deceased since 2006, praised his single-minded devotion to duty and clinical efficiency, noting that these qualities propelled him through various positions of responsibility within the military establishment.”
Akpabio highlighted the national significance of this loss, occurring at a time when the country is grappling with security challenges. He described the passing of such a seasoned and accomplished officer as a grave loss to the Nigerian Military and a moment of national grief, given the critical role such assets play in addressing the nation’s security emergencies.
Drawing consolation from the late Admiral’s legacy of service, Senator Akpabio urged the bereaved family and the military to find strength in his commitment to national values. He prayed for the peaceful repose of the soul of the Late Rear Admiral Musa Katagum and asked for divine strength for the family, friends, and the Nigerian Military to bear this irreplaceable loss.
